Past Crosley of the Month Winners - Page 4

A highlight of 2004 National show was Gerald Davenport's (KY) Land Speed racing 1946 Crosley. Complete with Crofton tow vehicle

Gerald held the J/Pro record at 94 mph and plans to get it back.  Gerald's goal is to break 100 mph and has come very close on several runs.  All from a modified Crosley engine.

Orlando's Crosley participated in the Pioneer Days Show on Nov.6, 2004. ( Fall Fun Fest ) Orlando Nieves for many years was our member in Puerto Rico, he moved to Florida a few years back and is enjoying the the car show circuit there now.

His 47 wagon is a real eye catcher.  Orlando says "The radio is from a 1973 VW (Hitachi transistorized) with 6-12 volts and neg-pos switches.  Works perfectly and draws very little current from the battery. I adapted it to the dash board."

It has been Pro Streeted but you can't see the tires in the shadows.

Crosley Powered Lotus H Modified.  These were posted on our original Yahoo Web board.  When Yahoo lost the club site I had saved the pictures but not all the text. The fellow that posted the pictures was looking for this car.

His Father was involved as the builder or driver or both. The only thing I have to identify the pictures were the labels and those were the name Johnny and Burt.  Any body recognize the pictures or car?  I believe they were taken in the 60s.

Michele Orsi Bandini supplied these pictures and others that will be added to the Engine Family Tree page in the future.  He writes that only 83 cars were built in total across the 4 different displacement models (only the 750cc model used Crosley engines).  They have a registry that list 47 known to still exist.

Grace Lyon driving her birthday present back in June. Jeff Lyon (Napa, CA) bought this 1950 HotShot as a basket case back in July 2004 and finished it in time for his wife's birthday in June 2005.  He had help from several Crosley people along the way.

It is powered by a Barry Seel Bearcat engine, Disc brakes were rebuilt by Butch at Service Motors, body panels by Tim Freshley and other needed parts and advise from Dave Edwards.  Jeff did all the body work himself.
Ice Cream Truck

Deane Sherman of Ohio and Board Member, showed his FarmOroad Ice Cream truck at the 2005 Nationals fresh from a multi-year restoration.
Handing out the goodies

To say it was a crowd favorite is an understatement.  Hand out Ice Cream on a Hot Mid West July day and you draw a crowd.

So it wasn't on purpose but Gerald has had two Crosley of the Month in a row.  From the dates it looks like Karl owned it when the picture was taken.

From the looks of the grass that must have been one of the hot and very dry years in NW Ohio.
