Pre-War Body and Engine Serial Number Location

The body serial number is located on the front flange of the right cowl side panel. Also on this plate is the paint code number which designates to the factory the color and shade of the finish of the body.

Serial Numbers by Model Year — Some variation in the prefix to the serial numbers have been reported. The last 5 digits are the significant numbers in determining year.

  • 1939 – 390-10000 and up
  • 1940 – 390-20000 and up
  • 1941 – 390-30000 and up
  • 1942 – CB42-32000 and up

The Pre-War Crosley came in many body styles including several truck models. The most common is the Convertible Coupe and Convertible Sedan (shown).

CC Models (1946 – 1948)

The body serial number is located inside the engine compartment, top dead center of the firewall. (Serial numbers start with "CC")

  • 1948 – CC-32,000 to CC-61256

The bar grill was added part way through 1948 and was offered as an option to update earlier Crosleys to the "New Look." Since the bars were available from the dealer you will find them on earlier CC models. The most popular model in sheer numbers was the 1948 Station Wagon; Crosley led all other American car companies in steel-bodied station wagons in 1948.

CD Models (1949 – 1952)

  • 1952 – CD-400001 and up

A full model line was offered with sedan, station wagon, convertible, and pickup.

Crosley Hotshot/Super Sports 1949–1952

Serial Numbers by Model Year

  • 1949 – VC-10001 to VC-10727
  • 1950 – VC-20001 to VC-20835
  • 1951 – VC-30001 to VC-30670
  • 1952 – VC-40001 and up

The Hotshot was introduced in 1949 with the Super Sports or Super Hotshot added as a dressed-up version in 1950. In 1951 and 1952 full doors were added to the Super Sports while the Hotshot continued with cut-down sides with either no doors or removable half doors.

The body serial number is located inside the engine compartment, driver side of firewall. (Serial numbers start with "FR")

Serial Numbers by Model Year

  • 1951 – Continued from 1950 up to FR-430
  • 1952 – FR-1001 and up

The FarmOroad was a bridge between a tractor and a truck/car for the small farmer. A full set of implements were sold to go with the FOR to do all your farming, and then you could take off the dual wheels and drive to town.
