I need some help with my Farm-O-Road. I have acquired a 1952 Farm-O-Road and can not get it to run. It has no spark. I have replaced, the coil, points, cap, condencer and still have no spark. I have power to the coil. I know it's something simple but it has me at a loss.
You said, "coil, points, cap, condensor"......Did you put the rotor back in?
Check the wire that goes from the coil to the dist. I had the same prob, it looked ok but wasn't.
I have seen the wire going though the dist. housing short out causing miss fires and would be sure could ground clear out.
I would look very carefully at the point where the wire enters the distributer base there is a post there that has a stepped insulating washer that tends to crumble with age letting the power short out to the distributer base before going to points. Did you take a test light to the points? Try turning it over by hand slowly and see if your getting power to the breaker arm of the points, see if you're getting a make and break when points open and close (test light on other side of points contact) there is also a small insulator that keeps the spring part of the point arm from hitting the inside of the distributor make sure its still there as it also tends to crumble with age. It's not rocket science but it all has to be right or it will not work.
I don't remember an insulated washer on the stud. Thanks to all for the help.
