This is the procedure I followed to successfully remove the body from the frame without damaging any-thing. It took about six hours but it was the first time I ever did it. Learn from my trial and error. Several of these steps I had to learn the hard way. Trust me, every step is essential. Enjoy!

Jack up and place on four sturdy jack stands
Remove negative battery cable
Drain radiator

Remove:
seats
doors
kick panels and panels behind door openings
air cleaner (cover to prevent dirt getting in thecarburetor)
steering wheel (bolt and nut trick)
steering column and box through bottom
brake and clutch pedals
transmission hump cover
shifter (after putting it in neutral)( cover to prevent dirt from getting in)
gas cap (so it will slide through the hole when the body is lifted)
10 body bolts
Voltage regulator from fender well and set on the engine
Have a good time...

Disconnect:
Gas tank filler pipe flange and hose (internal vent pipe makes complete removal hard)
Throttle linkage, and return spring
Choke cable
Emergency brake cable under car
Oil pressure gauge sender on engine
Water temperature sender on engine
Radiator support strut on top of radiator

Wires to disconnect:
Headlight harness clip on frame
Voltage regulator wire from harness
Horn wires
Ground wire on firewall
Starter wire from starter solenoid
Wire block behind gas tank and sender wire on tank
Taillight wires frame to body (cut and splice back on installation)

Construct a lifting device from three pipes and insert it into body holes, see first photo. Thanks Joe McKee for this great idea.

Attach a cherry picker to the lifting device, see second photo.

Lower the car from the jack stands to the floor. Lift the body (have a helper to steady it as you work the cherry picker)
Roll the body back from over the frame.

Lower the body to whatever you intend to carry it on.

He added this clarification in the messages that were exchanged for the dense like myself "He drilled holes and slid bolts into the lift frame to keep it from coming out of the body holes. Pipes are short enough to slip them in one side at a time 49 1/2 inches."
